Here is a draft of the meeting minutes for this evening's meeting.  Let me know what needs to be corrected.  We will use this as the basis for our report to the Ad council and for the Jan. newsletter.

PSUMC    UMM Meeting Minutes   12/06/06

 

Opening prayer was offered by Rev. David Diller

 

The meal was enhanced by left over hamburgers prepared by the UMM for the Ark . Additionally the quality of the attendees was raised considerably by Helen Diller agreeing to eat with the group after attending choir practice.

 

President Mickey Wilson opened the meeting with a marble check. No fines were assessed.

 

Secretary’s Report-Bob Kerr moved that the  minutes from 9/20/06  , notes from 10/18/06 Ladies Night and minutes from 11/15/06 be accepted as written. Gene Myers seconded the motion. The motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s report- Bill Brown reported that the UMM treasury has $1124 in. Burton Love made a motion that the report be accepted and  Bob Kerr seconded it. The motion passed.

 

Project status report

Pictures of Methodist Men-   John Dawson, Charles Robinson, Bob Johnson

            John Dawson reported that individual pictures are being considered.  This we be discussed again at the January meeting.

 

Bio of Methodist Men- Slim Dunaway, Gene Myers- Project continues

 

Ark Schedule-  Bob Kerr, Derrel Nichols the 2007 schedule is as follows: Sept., 19; Oct. 17; and Nov. 14.  Gene Myers the incoming president will explore whether we want to handle a fourth date.

 

Hats and Aprons- James Green, Doug Ragsdale, Glynn Collins  Bob Kerr reported that hat are available for $12 apiece and he volunteered to order them for UMM. Burton Love made a motion that Bob pick up 12 of the hats at a cost of 12/hat. Bill Brown seconded the motion. The motion passed.  Methodist Men will pay for the hats individually as they acquire them.  Acquisition of aprons will be postponed until 2007.

 

Greeters-  Mickey Wilson- Greeters are being supplied when requested by the Evangelism committee.

 

Monthly Devotional and Spiritual Learning- Richard Norris, Bob Caldwell,

                        Marion Henderson.

Efforts continue to provide a devotional for each meeting.

 

Ladies Night- Ken Cole, Don Mecklin, Steve Herrick- Ken Cole reported that we want to continue to have at least two ladies night per year.  The next one will be the Valentine Ladies Night in February.  Arrangements will have to be made to change the date of the Ad. Council meeting for Feb. to allow the UMM meeting to occur close to Valentines Day.

 

Up-Keep---Lord’s Acre- Gene Kinder, Ron Close, Bill Brown- Ron Close reported that the Tabernacle at the Lord’s Acre has been winterized.  As a result of bad weather, staining will have to be delayed until spring.

 

Other Business

          A marble retirement ceremony will be developed to use for members who have been called home to be with the Master.  We will use this ceremony to retire Joe Spawn’s marble.  Burton Love will develop the text for the ceremony.

            Charlie Bjerke made a  motion that a $50 donation be made in honor of Lynda Ellison, (Betty Wilson’s daughter) from the UMM. Don Mecklin seconded the motion. The motion passed.

            Charlie Bjerke made a motion  that we honor Joe Spawn by identifying a project in his name. Burton Love seconded the motion. The motion passed.

          Devotional- Ron Close presented the devotional based on Millard Fuller’s book, The Theology of the Hammer.  Millard Fuller was the founder of Habitat for Humanity. Ron’s general theme was the fact that we can bring about the Kingdom of God on earth through efforts like Habitat by providing shelter to those in need.

            Burton Love will provide the devotional for the Jan. meeting.

            The marble ceremony for James Haynes will be postponed until James is available.

            The new officers for UMM for 2007, elected at the Nov. 15, 2006 meeting will need to take a copy of the minutes to the bank to file new signature cards.

 

Adjournment

          Charlie Bjerke made a motion that we adjourn. Everyone seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
