Rev. David Diller was born and grew up in Findlay, OH, the elder of two sons. He graduated from high school in 1963. David graduated from Miami University in Ohio in 1967 and came to Perkins's School of Theology in Dallas. After an intern year as a chaplain in Memphis he graduated from seminary in 1971. He stayed in Texas, married Helen Jean Edwards in 1975, and they raised four wonderful children. His joy is preaching and teaching. His passion is the study of the bible and its background and development, including sociology, history, theology and philosophy. David takes a day off and works at the farm or plays golf. His hobbies are gardening, jogging, reading and watching action movies on TV.
Helen was born in Grand Saline, TX and grew up near Ben Wheeler. She graduated from Van High School in 1973 and earned a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in history from East Texas State University in Texarkana in 1977. She is the second of seven children. Helen is a farmer and rancher. She manages cattle at Ben Wheeler and grows wheat in Wyoming near her grandfather’s old place. She stays busy being a wife and mother, helping with her aging parents, watching movies, reading and being as active and involved in the church as possible.
Johnathan will be 27 this month. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tyler Junior College earning an Associate’s Degree in Welding, and an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics from Kilgore Junior College in Longview. He raises wheat in Wyoming and helps Helen with cattle in Texas. He is an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and spending time with his friends.
Anna, 25, was valedictorian of junior high and high school. In December 2005 she graduated Cum Laude from Texas A & M University in College Station, earning a BS in Biomedical Science with a Certificate in Medical Spanish Proficiency and a BA in Psychology. She was one of only two graduates to earn University Honors, Foundation Honors, and University Fellow’s Honors distinctions. In college, she was a Neuropsychopharmacological Research Assistant, a Supplemental Instructor for Organic Chemistry, researched Cryopreservation of Taenia Psiformis (an intestinal parasite) in Mexico City under a NIH grant, studied abroad in Italy, ran the Houston Marathon (with Nathan) and sang in a praise band. Anna is currently applying and interviewing for medical school and hope to matriculate in August of 2007. She enjoys reading, cooking, sewing and photography.
Sharon is 22. In December 2005 she graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Business Administration from Austin College in Sherman. On January 21 this year she became Mrs. Wesley Thorpe. Wesley, 23, graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 2001. He earned a BS in Business Administration from Austin College in Sherman, May of 2005. Sharon is an accountant for Gage Homes of Dallas and Wes is a project manager form Vistawall in Terrell. They attend FUMC Forney where they are active members of the UMM and UMW. Wes is a fan of the Dallas sports teams, enjoys movies, games, sports and dining out. Sharon also enjoys sports, reading, gardening and talking to family and friends.
Nathan, 20, is currently attending Tyler Junior College where he is earning an Associate’s Degree in Welding and Automotive Technology. Nathan graduated Salutatorian in 2004 from Rains High School. He was awarded Eagle Scout rank from Troop 393. When Nathan is not in school he spends his time working at the family farm feeding cattle, fixing fence and driving a tractor.
