PSUMC UMM Meeting Minutes 9/20/06
Opening Prayer-Delivered by Rev. Edwin McDaniel
The meal was plentiful and enjoyed by everyone
President Wilson instituted a marble check and no fines were levied at the meeting. $2.25 was collected for marble fines between meetings. James Haynes was given a preliminary marble and the ceremony will be handled by Rev. McDaniel at the next meeting.
The minutes from the 8/16/06 meeting appeared in the PSUMC Newsletter. Bob Kerr made a motion to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Ron Close. The motion passed.
Bill Brown, PSUMC UMM Treasurer, reported we have $738.41 less $45.87 used for supplies to feed the students at the ARK today. Ken Cole made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Charlie Bjerke. The motion passed.
Project Status Reports
Pictures of UMM. John Dawson reported that a picture of the whole group would be taken tonight 9/20/06 because of the great turnout. Pictures will also be taken on ladies night in Oct. John asked everyone to think about the possibility of individual pictures of UMM.
Biographies- Slim Dunaway provided a form for submitting person bios and asked everyone to provide feedback on how they should be modified. Slim asked everyone to think about getting bios from everyone in the church.
Ark Schedule- Bob Kerr reported that we fed the students at the Ark today and are scheduled to feed again on 12/6/06. People working at the Ark today included Jim Ragsdale, a burger cooking dude, Derrell Nichols, Steve Herrick, and Mickey Wilson.
Hats and Aprons- Doug Ragsdale reported that he had gotten prices for screen print hats and aprons. 12-36 hats 4.50 per hat; 12-36 aprons 12 per apron.
Greeters- Mickey Wilson reported that volunteer greeters are still needed for Sunday mornings.
Monthly Devotional and Spiritual Learning-Marion Henderson indicated that there was nothing to report.
Ladies Night- Ken reported that Oct. 18 would be ladies night. We will serve hamburgers, and hot dogs. Because of the season there will be a pumpkin theme, and door prizes. The festivities will be held at the Lord’s Acre.
Lord’s Acre- Ron Close reported that there were several things including refinishing some of the wood of the tabernacle and installing legs on the sinks which needed to be done. A work day will be set up.
Other Business
Ron Close reported that Eva Stalling had requested assistance with repairing damage to her porch. Ron estimated that the materials would cost about $125. Bob Kerr made a motion that we handle the repair. Burton Love seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Bob Kerr reported that the doctor had ordered a wheel chair for Joe Spawn and a ramp would need to be installed. Bob Kerr made a motion that we install the ramp. Burton Love seconded the motion. The motion passed
Devotional- Jim Ragsdale gave a rousing presentation from the book of Job. Jim was especially cute in his red hat with flowers on it. The summary of the devotional was “We all have trials and problems. Give us the Faith of Job to contend and cope and be patient for better days on God’s terms.”
Charles Bjerke made a motion to adjourn. Ron Close seconded the motion. The motion passed.
