Payne Springs UMC is one of four churches that supports the Care and Share Food Pantry that is located on the property of the First Baptist Church, Gun Barrel City. We are responsible for working at the pantry one out of every four months. Clients log in at the Family Resource Center located at 107 Spring Valley Street in Gun Barrel, and are given a referral sheet and an appointment time that has been approved by the team who is in charge of working the pantry that week. When they arrive at the pantry, they are given food according to the number of members in their household. These food items are procured from the Kings Storehouse in Tyler, members of the four churches, food drives and other pantries and organization who have an over-abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables which need to be given out quickly. Monetary donations from each of the churches (First Baptist Church of GBC, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Payne Springs Baptist Church, and Payne Springs United Methodist Church), as well as private donations from other individuals help to pay for food, household items, and other necessary products as available. If you would like to know more about this program feel free to call or email the church at (903)451-2978, firstname.lastname@example.org.
